The effects of Breastfeeding moms rarely talk about

Image
No one told me breastfeeding has its ups and downs. Well, everything does, but I never knew breastfeeding was going to have a major effect on my body. Don't get me wrong,I enjoy breastfeeding my baby, it's a bonding session for us. The euphoria that comes from them starring into your eyes as they feed communicate alot of love and trust, I can get enough of that. However, the joint pains I have experienced since I gave birth and started breastfeeding my baby exclusively is so bad and painful. I practically live on pain killers.  Sometimes,it's so severe I can barely walk , sometimes its my fingers and other times it is my shoulder or neck. I consulted Google and guess what there are other moms with similar experience. I look forward to weaning him so I could get some relief.  Breastfeeding has its benefits also some of which I have experienced, a major one is weight loss, I was able to drop some much weight without hitting the gym, that is really a blessing for me, it is ...

5 THINGS I WISH I KNEW AFTER A MISCARRIAGE

Image
As newly Weds, my husband and I agreed we will start having children immediately and as luck would have it, i missed my period that month and knew right away that I was pregnant. We were happy and kept the news to ourselves. At 7 weeks I was having serious abdominal cramps and a bit of spotting, we went to the hospital, had a scan and got the news that we lost the pregnancy, an evacuation was immediately advised by the doctor and it was carried out, it was quite painful.  The whole miscarriage experience had an effect not just on my body but on my mental health also. This topic is one that is hardly spoken about. I wished I had someone I could free open up to when it happened to me,it would have saved me from so many mental stress and helped me move on quicker.   Things I wished I knew after a miscarriage 1.YOU ARE NOT ALONE Miscarriages are more common than you know, if only we talk about it more,we will find out that 2 in every 5 women have experienced it and went on to...

I wasn't loved and it affected me. How Love Shapes a Child's Life and Future

Image
I grew in a household where love was a strange feeling, I was raised by people who were never in love with themselves, marriage and even their children.  I wasn't their biological child and it wasn't hidden from me, I was constantly reminded of this fact and was told to be grateful they took me in after my mom's death.  I never really knew what love was, until one of my cousins from a different aunt pointed it out to me. She and her siblings were raised in love and you could see how different they were from us, her expressions were confident, she was so free to speak, she was so open and hardly pick offence. I wanted to be around her because I get to smile more and not walk on eggshells. As a mother now,my child hood experiences has taught me the importance of love in an household/family.  Love shapes children in so many positive ways.  1. Unconditional love and affection create a sense of security, trust, and belonging, allowing your child to develop healthy self-es...

Little joys of motherhood

Few days ago, while scrolling on social media,I came across the picture of one of my little cuties, he was covered from head to toe in powder(his mum's powder) and it was hilarious though the mum wasn't smiling at the time she posted it. That picture shows just a snippet of the antics our little ones(LO) display daily basis and the stress of which mums have to put up with, but regardless of how annoying and irritating they may be, we must understand and realize that these are the beauties of motherhood, the joys that comes with having these little individuals in our homes. Remember, the daily joys of motherhood can be found in the simplest of moments. Embrace the laughter and cherish the memories, for they make this journey all the more memorable and delightful. Share your hilarious moments with your kids.
